Jan. 31 (UPI) -- A sheep that was trapped hundreds of feet down a well in Wales for two weeks was rescued by RSPCA officers.

The RSPCA shared video of the daring rescue as crews carefully made their way down the quarry to bring the sheep to safety.

"This sheep got stuck several hundred feet down a quarry in Snowdonia! RSPCA Cymru abseiled down to her rescue and returned her to the flock," the RSPCA said.

Rescuers believed the sheep had been trapped at the bottom of the quarry for about two weeks, according to Wales Online.

RSPCA Charity inspector Mark Roberts said the rescue was a "great example" of the effort and resources the group is willing to expend to rescue an animal in distress.

"This was a highly complex animal rescue that required rope teams and significant RSPCA resources," he said.

While the sheep was unable to escape the quarry on its own, it did have access to food and water and was found uninjured.

"Fortunately the sheep was uninjured and this operation was a success, with the ewe now safely back with the rest of the flock," Roberts said.
