Head attempted to coax the moose up the stairs and out of the house with the help of Blaine County sheriff's deputies and police officers from Hailey and Bellevue, but the moose was agitated and repeatedly charged at the officers.
Wildlife Manager Daryl Meints was called to the home about 3 a.m. Sunday to sedate the moose with narcotics.
The sleeping moose was carried up the stairs and out the front door.
"It woke up in the snow covered street, groggy and confused, but free," the department said.
Officials said Head has experience with these types of incidents -- last year, he was called to a home where a cow elk had become trapped in a basement under very similar circumstances.
