Jan. 30 (UPI) -- A Canadian news crew filming footage of problem potholes in Newfoundland and Labrador ran into an admittedly predictable problem -- a pothole gave them a flat.

CBC Newfoundland and Labrador said a crew was out filming potholes on busy roads in the Mount Pearl area when their van struck one of the large holes, causing a flat tire.

The crew ended up having to call a tow truck, like many other area residents who complained about the massive potholes.

The Department of Transportation and Works said the massive potholes were caused by heavy freezing rainfall last week.

"The weather today was conducive to having these repaired and our crews were focused on this work today," department spokesman Brian Scott told the CBC Friday.
