Jan. 26 (UPI) -- One simple Google search led a man on a quest to gather and consume nearly $100 worth of free food on his birthday.

YouTube user Kent Yoshimura embarked on the journey to have "A Very Free Birthday" which began by simply searching the phrase "free birthday stuff" on Google.

"Although I'm not a big fan of birthdays, I am totally willing to take full advantage of it," Yoshimura said.

He began his hunt for a feast of free birthday food by partaking in a free "Grand Slam" breakfast at Denny's before making the first of two trips to Starbucks for a free latte.

Yoshimura also scored a free burger and fries from both Red Robin and Johnny Rockets and doubled up on free wings at Hooters.

His healthiest meal of the day came in the form of a free salad from veggie grill, but he did indulge his sweet tooth by picking up Vietnamese iced coffee from Cafe Dulce, a free ice cream cone from Pinkberry and a free donut from Krispy Kreme.

By the end of the day, Yoshimura had collected several meals, a free candle from diptyque and a free parking space, adding up to a grand total of $94.54 in free gifts.

Yoshimura's day wasn't all glamour, as his request for free birthday goodies was shot down at a handful of franchises including Panda Express, Wetzel's Pretzel's, Haagen-Dazs, Helberg Diamonds and Jack in the Box, where he was denied a complimentary cup of water.

He ended the day with a "free" cake provided by his family and friends, whose company he counted among his many gifts.

"Yup. The best things in life are, in fact, free," he said.
