Kangaroo celebrates Australia Day by making friends with koala

Jan. 26 (UPI) -- A kangaroo caught the Australia Day spirit at a wildlife park in the country and celebrated by making friends with a koala joey.

The Symbio Wildlife Park in Helensburgh, New South Wales, shared a video to Facebook of keepers in Australia Day garb introducing a koala joey named Willow to a group of kangaroos.

One of the kangaroos appears particularly curious about the smaller animal and comes in for a closer look, leading to a series of kisses and nuzzles for the joey.

"Just a koala joey and a kangaroo saying Maaaaate!" the park said. "Happy Australia Day."
