Jan. 26 (UPI) -- An Australian dad snapping photos of his 10-year-old son surfing later noticed a shocking photobomber -- a great white shark mere feet from the boy.

Chris Hasson said in a Facebook post his son, Eden, was taking on "the late surf" at Samauri Beach in Port Stephens, New South Wales, Tuesday when he started snapping photos and noticed a "dark shape" in the water near the boy.

"I see a big dark shape and [am] about to call the small group in and Eden takes of on a left and smashes it to the beach," Hasson wrote. "Just as he is taking off I see something out of the corner of my eye. I keep shooting and after he finishes and starts paddling out I zoom in on the second photo and see he's just done a backhand snap on an 8-foot Great White Sharks head."

"Call everyone in and show them the photo. Lucky he didn't fall off. This photo is going straight to the pool room. Not everyday you get a photo surfing over a big white. Check its mouth. It's rolled over having a good look at his yummy yellow new wetsuit."

Eden said he definitely touched something while surfing.

"When I took off I thought I saw something and when I went to do the first snap off the top I hit something and I thought it was seaweed," he told the Newcastle Herald. "Then when [Dad] called me in I thought it must be a shark because there was a big school of fish."
