Whately Police Department shared photos of the injured Barred Owl found standing along the roadway after receiving calls about an owl being struck by a car around 3:00 p.m. Advertisement Sgt. Donald Bates arrived to the scene to rescue the owl, who was making no effort to fly away. "Sergeant Bates responded to find a Barred Owl standing in the roadway looking around," police said. "The owl appeared to have a leg injury and was not flying away." Bates wrapped the owl in a blanket and transported it to a rehabilitation center in Conway to recover. The owl was the second one Bates had rescued in three months after finding an injured owl in October, according to MassLive.
