CINCINNATI, Jan. 13 (UPI) -- Customs and Border Protection officers in Cincinnati intercepted a large snail statue filled with more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine.

Customs officers then drilled through the snail to uncover 53.46 pounds of white crystalline powder identified as meth inside, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

"This particular interception and its unique concealment method showcases the consistency with which our officers and specialists are able to support legitimate trade while interrupting illegal drug trafficking attempts," CBP Cincinnati Port Director Richard Gillespie said. "Our officers excel at preventing these sorts of dangerous drugs from reaching innocent citizens."

Officials said the package had been sent from Mexico City and was destined for Lawrenceville, Ga.
