NEWBURY, England, Jan. 10 (UPI) -- A driver in England moved an ambulance while a patient was being treated inside to free up a parking space.

Police said the 50-year-old driver entered the cabin of the ambulance and released the parking brake while a woman inside the emergency vehicle was being treated for a life-threatening condition, the BBC reported.

Investigators told the Belfast Telegraph the man was looking to clear the space to make room for his red Mini Cooper to park.

"The offender moved the ambulance in order to free up a parking space for himself, without considering if anyone was receiving treatment at the time," investigating Officer Nick Easener said.

Authorities are looking for the driver involved in the Dec. 29 incident as paramedics said his actions could have caused "serious consequences."

"There was no communication between the offender and the ambulance crew prior to the ambulance being moved," Easener said. "His actions could have had very serious consequences for the patient, who was receiving emergency care."
