DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla., Jan. 6 (UPI) -- A man who tried -- and failed -- to break into a Florida store apparently missed the fact that the shop specializing in hidden cameras had some in plain sight.

Security cameras at Spy Spot Investigations Spy Store in Deerfield Beach were recording about 4 a.m. Wednesday when a bearded man wearing a hood and baseball cap attempted to break through the glass of the store's front door with a rock.

"And then all he did was he went over to the door, he threw it right against it," manager Evan Tannenbaum told WSVN-TV.

The manager said the thief apparently missed the security camera in plain sight as well as warning signs on the shop's door and windows informing potential burglars that they are being recorded. He said the man seems to eventually notice the camera.

"And at one point, it looks like he can tell he's on camera, but he doesn't stop," he said. "Then he comes back, basically kicks the door again, tries to push it with his hands and then walks away."

"This is probably the last place you would want to try to burglarize," Tannenbaum said. "We got a whole bunch of surveillance cameras. We've got hidden cameras, we also do GPS tracking devices, audio recording devices."

"I don't know why you would try to rob a spy store," he said. "The guy's probably not the smartest criminal."

Tannenbaum said he released the security footage in the hopes of identifying the suspect.

The would-be burglar is not the first to have such a failure caught on camera -- a man was recorded by a security camera Nov. 20 attempting to break into the 2 Debi's store in Brockton, Mass. The man hurled a rock twice at the store's glass door, but fled after the rock bounced under his van, where he couldn't reach it.
