Overweight raccoon falls from weak tree branch in Ontario

HAMILTON, Ontario, Jan. 3 (UPI) -- An Ontario man captured video of an overweight and unlucky raccoon taking a tumble from a weak tree branch outside the man's home.

A video posted to YouTube by Giancarlo Da-Re shows the large raccoon attempting to climb from a roof awning to the bare branches of a nearby tree in Hamilton.

The filmer can be heard laughing as the raccoon immediately runs into trouble keeping balance on the weak branches.

The portly creature removes its last paw from the roof -- causing it to quickly plunge into a pile of debris on the ground.

"I feel so bad," the filmer says while laughing. "I'm so sorry."

The raccoon, appearing embarrassed but not seriously injured, saunters away.

"Poor guy ate too many candy canes this Christmas," Da-Re wrote.
