The most recent incident involved two 14-year-old girls who were caught spending the night at an Ikea in Jonkoping, Sweden. They were not charged due to their young ages, but two 15-year-olds are facing trespassing charges after they were caught in October hiding in cupboards after hours at an Ikea in Malmo, Sweden.
The young men in the Belgian video escaped detection by going back to their wardrobes and hiding until the store reopened.
"We appreciate that people are interested in Ikea and want to create fun experiences. However, the safety and security of our co-workers and customers is our highest priority and that's why we do not allow sleepovers in our stores," a representative for Ikea U.K. told the BBC.
A spokesman for the company's headquarters in Sweden said hiding out in a closed Ikea is not worth the trouble.
"Maybe needless to say that the fun in it is overrated. A long night of sitting still, only to then risk getting into trouble with the law," he said.
