BURNABY, British Columbia, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A trio of raccoons was caught on camera rummaging through indoor garbage and recycling bins at a university in British Columbia.

The video, originally posted to SnapChat by Charmyn Chan and later posted to the SFU Confessions group on Facebook, shows three raccoons inside a building at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, rummaging through the trash and recycle bins.

SFU communications director Kurt Heinrich said the video appears to have been filmed inside the Maggie Benson Center.

Henrich told CTV News that the school investigated and "it appears that the raccoons did leave the building shortly after they finished with the trash."

"From time to time, community members will spot deer, raccoons and on rare occasions, even coyotes and bears -- though these animals usually keep away from the campus buildings," Heinrich said.

Students made light of the situation in the comments section of the post.

"At least they're recycling," Dave Coles wrote.

"They let anyone into SFU nowadays," Paul Sandhu joked.
