WASHINGTON, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A pair of brothers crafted a "Hipster" Nativity set, depicting a modern version of the birth of Jesus in the manger.

The $130 Nativity set brings the biblical Christmas scene into the 21st century as Joseph and Mary take selfies with the newborn Jesus in a stable with a solar-powered roof, the Three Wisemen on segways bearing packages from Amazon and the shepherd looking at his cell phone.

"Casey and I are always playing around with ideas for new fun products," Corey Wright, half of the brother duo, told CNN. "We started talking about what Jesus' birth would look like today."

The nativity set was first made available on Nov. 21 after the brothers spent six months and $150,000 to commission an artist to bring the scene to life.

Their venture was ultimately successful as the website advertises less than 1,000 sets are still available for purchase.

According to Wright, the tongue-in-cheek idea was met with both laughter and outrage and a large number of their sales came from a surprising source.

"Many orders for the sets came from churches, pastors and reverends," he said.
