Australian breaks Rubik's cube record by .01 second

SYDNEY, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- An Australian Rubik's cube competitor set a new world record for the puzzle by solving a cube .01 second faster than the previous record.

Feliks Zemdegs, 20, of Melbourne, tackled a Rubik's cube puzzle at a Sunday event in Sydney and finished in 4.73 seconds, a new world record.

Video of the attempt shows a crowd of spectators cheering loudly at Zemdegs' accomplishment.

Those cheering on the Rubik's cube master included Mats Valk, 20, the previous record holder who happened to be sitting right next to Zemdegs when he made his fateful attempt.
