WILMINGTON, N.C., Dec. 5 (UPI) -- A North Carolina man reeled in a catfish that weighed in at a staggering 112 pounds -- just 5 pounds short of the state record.
Riahn Brewington said he spent about 30 minutes last week battling with the massive fish at the end of his line in the Cape Fear River.
"He took all of the string out two times, and I thought I was going to lose him," Brewington told WTVR-TV. "I didn't realize how big he was until I actually got my hands underneath him."
The catfish, which is the size of Brewington's upper body, weighed in at 112 pounds, but wildlife officials said it was just 5 pounds short of the state record.
