NORTH BENDIGO, Australia, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- An Australian woman shared video of a scene that might be described as terrifying anywhere else in the world -- a giant spider hatching eggs in her mailbox.

Natasha Joyce posted a video to YouTube Monday showing the Holconia huntsman and her approximately 100 freshly-hatched children hanging around the egg sac inside Joyce's North Bendigo, Victoria, mailbox.

Joyce said the mother spider, which she dubbed "Hortense the Huntsman Protector of the Post," moved into the mailbox a few weeks ago.

She wrote:

"We found this Huntsman spider with her newly made egg sac six weeks earlier (early October) and have been checking on her progress daily. It was a long gestation period, as this species usually hatch within 2-3 weeks, but the weather has been odd lately. Anyway, we were delighted to find today that they were all safely arrived, ready to be eaten by each other and other predators. Congratulations Hortense the Huntsman Protector of the Post! The colored cardboard at the bottom of the letterbox is the 'nursery furniture' installed by my friend's kids, in readiness for the tiny arrivals."
