King tide washes octopus into Florida man's garage

MIAMI, Nov. 18 (UPI) -- A Florida man said rising tides washed an octopus into the parking garage of his Miami Beach residence.

Resident Richard Conlin shared a photo of the octopus lying in a shallow puddle of water in the concrete parking garage at Mirador 1000 on West Avenue.

The Miami area experienced unusually high "king tides" as a result of the "supermoon" which was closest to earth than it had been in 69 years, according to Local 10.

Conlin also shared video of water bubbling up from a drain pipe, which could explain the presence of the octopus.

The octopus was eventually scooped up by a security guard and taken to Biscayne Bay in a bucket filled with seawater, Conlin told Curbed.
