Arlington police spokesman Lt. Christopher Cook told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram the snake was a likely ball python that was kept as a pet and released by its owners.

The rescue group plans to find a home for the snake, while police marveled at the strange situation.

"You never know the calls you might get on a Saturday night!" police said.
