EVANS HEAD, Australia, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- A group of boaters in Australia captured their less-than-calm encounter with a curious bull shark investigating their vessel.

Jordan Butler was recording video Saturday while boating the Evans River in Evans Head, New South Wales, when he and his friends spotted the shark in the water.

The boaters can be heard expressing shock and fear about the size of the shark before it disappears under water.

"Was driving up the river when we saw a bull shark across the river, I pulled out my phone and another mate started driving closer to it, then the shark [disappeared] like nothing," Butler said.

Evans Head is a hotspot of shark sightings and was closed to swimmers in July after two great whites were spotted just off Casuarina Beach.
