INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 8 (UPI) -- Indianapolis police were called to an apartment building in the city after a deer jumped through a plate glass window into an apartment building.
The Indianapolis Police Department and Indianapolis Animal Care Services dispatched officers about 10:30 a.m. Sunday to the John J. Barton Apartments, where a deer crashed through a plate glass window and into the building's lobby.
Witnesses said the deer was able to get out of the building on its own and startled two people into falling off their bicycles when it ran down the street.
The deer was captured by Animal Care officers, who said the animal was later euthanized due to the extent of its injuries.
Recent weeks have proven to be perilous times for deer, with animals across the country crashing through windows and getting stuck in fences.
