TOMS RIVER, N.J., Nov. 3 (UPI) -- A man fishing in New Jersey decided to taunt a crab he encountered and quickly learned a lesson about annoying an animal with claws.

The video, posted to YouTube by user Izzy f, shows the man repeatedly placing his hand near the crab's head and pulling it away when the crustacean reaches upward with its claws.

"If I get bit, I'm gonna kill this guy," the man says, while continuing to taunt the animal.

The man's threat turns out to be empty when the crab manages to get a claw on the man's finger, causing him to cry out and flee from the invertebrate.

The user characterized the encounter as "Crab vs. Idiot."

"I was at a local fishing spot in Toms River, N.J., and snagged a li'l crab. Of course I decided that it was smart to test my reflexes against the crab's," the video's description reads. "From the point of view of crabby (This is the best name my imagination came up with) he thought that my finger was a plump juicy shrimp. Whether it is or isn't doesn't matter cuz he got a taste, and my experiment did not go very well.. Ouch."
