Illinois woman wins $1.05 million lottery prize on her birthday

TINLEY PARK, Ill., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- A retired Illinois teacher said the $1.05 million lottery jackpot she won on a very special day was "the best birthday gift ever."

Sue Swanson of Tinley Park told Illinois Lottery officials she purchased three $1 Lucky Day Lotto Quick Pick tickets on Oct. 2, her 68th birthday, and she found one of the tickets matched all five numbers in the drawing the following day.

The ticket earned Swanson $1.05 million when she claimed her winnings at the Lottery Prize Center in Des Plaines.

"I want to thank the Illinois Lottery for the best birthday gift ever!" Swanson said. "On my birthday, right after I bought my Lucky Day Lotto ticket, I read my horoscope and it said my dreams would come true. They certainly are coming true now!"

The 7-Eleven in Tinley Park where Swanson bought her ticket was awarded a $10,500 bonus for selling the winner.
