GREGORY HILLS, Australia, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- An Australian pet store shared video of a burglar making off with eight snakes collectively worth nearly $7,000.
Macarthur Pets in the Sydney suburb of Gregory Hills released security camera footage on Facebook showing the 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning burglary at the store.
The burglar stole eight snakes, including the store's mascot, an albino carpet python dubbed Everest.
"Macarthur Pets is offering a $1000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of or the return of Everest the albino Darwin Carpet Python," the store said in a Facebook post.
"The person knew what they were looking for because they went straight to the reptile tanks," store owner Fred Deveney told the Macarthur Chronicle. "They put all of the snakes into a doona cover and ran out of the shop."
"I've contacted the RSPCA because I'm concerned about the animal welfare issue of putting some smaller snakes in with larger snakes," Deveney said.
