COQUITLAM, British Columbia, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- A man filming a bicycle race in British Columbia captured footage of an unusual spectator -- a black bear snacking in a tree over the racers.

Andy Weststeyn posted a video to YouTube showing a black bear enjoying some berries on a tree branch directly above the road where cyclists competing in the MEC Triathlon were riding Sept. 10 in Coquitlam.

"Black bear eating berries in a tree while a bike race was happening below. Bikers were oblivious to the bear above," Weststeyn wrote in the video's description.

He said the race was later paused briefly when the bear climbed down from the tree and crossed a street.

Two commenters on the YouTube video said they were among the cyclists in the video and had no idea there was a bruin high above their heads.
