COOLANGATTA, Australia, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- A Sea World Australia rescue team filmed their rescue of a humpback whale calf that became entangled in a shark net while its mother stayed by its side.

The theme park said in a Facebook post that its rescue team joined the Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol Friday off the coast of Queensland's Coolangatta Beach.

The crews worked to carefully free the calf from the net while its mother remained by its side, mere feet from the rescuers.

Sea World said the rescuers used "specialized cutting equipment" to free the calf, which swam off with its mother without any apparent injuries.
