KENT, England, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A Domino's in England has begun testing delivery by canoe to homes along a local river.

Domino's Pizza Loose shared a photo of a Domino's employee paddling along the River Loose while making a delivery.

The canoe delivery "bouys" will deliver pizzas along the River Loose in Maidstone, with pizza boxes equipped with special inflation devices to keep the food safe and dry, according to Kent Live.

"We're really excited to be the first store in the UK tasked with providing a river service," store manager IIona Paozalyte said. "Being in an area that is famed for its scenic waterways means the rivers are a big part of the local community so we're glad we can extend our standard delivery methods to harness the local scenery and ensure we can deliver by land or water to pizza lovers in the area."

The company is aiming to deliver pizza along the River Loose within 22 minutes during the two-week trial in collaboration with local canoe company Kent Canoes, Kent Online reported.

Domino's has also committed to donate to the Loose Conservation Trust in order to help protect the local waterways.

Local woman Debbie Hayes was the first person to receive a canoe delivery and raved about the innovative idea.

"It's great living by the river but it has always been impossible to get food delivered to our house so we owe Domino's a big thank you for allowing us to have a night in," she said. "I love a Pepperoni Passion pizza and I'm planning on having one every day of the week for the duration of the trial!"
