JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A Florida daredevil took advantage of Hurricane Matthew's high winds by using a tarp to turn his skateboard into a vehicle for sailing on land.

Surfing enthusiast Billy Fortier of Jacksonville Beach had the good sense to keep out of the water during Matthew's weekend fury, but he found an alternative way to practice his balance by taking his skateboard out for a spin.

A video posted to Fortier's Instagram account shows him using a tarp as a sail as he skateboards down the street to the appropriate tune of the Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane."

"Thanks Mathew. I'm looking forward to the waves you will provide in the morning," Fortier wrote.
