BOSTON, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A pair of newly hatched snapping turtles in Massachusetts were rescued by police after being found in a local pool.

Massachusetts Environmental Police shared a photo of the two uniquely colored hatchlings believed to be about two days old.

"A Massachusetts Environmental Police Lieutenant recovered two hatchling snapping turtles from a pool in Lakeville," they wrote. "The turtles are approximately two days old, one is albino and the other is believed to be melanistic."

According to police, the turtles have a low chance of surviving in the wild and were turned over to a specialist in order to be trained and rehabilitated.
