According to the Times of Israel, the monkey was one of five to escape from Hai-Kef zoo after a gate was closed improperly.

The rest of the monkeys remained within the zoo and were returned to their enclosures, but the fifth managed to climb over the zoo's fence and escape into the nearby suburb.

Police were able to track down the monkey after a brief search, and a veterinarian was called in to tranquilize the animal before it was returned to the zoo.
