Polar bear tries to eat baby through glass wall at the zoo

ST. LOUIS, July 22 (UPI) -- A visitor to a Missouri zoo captured video of a polar bear apparently trying to eat a baby through the glass wall of its enclosure.

The video shows a polar bear at the St. Louis Zoo diving underwater in its enclosure Monday to examine the location of a baby sitting just on the other side of the glass.

The polar bear goes to the surface for air before diving back down and apparently attempting to attack the baby by biting at the glass wall.

The baby, unamused, begins to cry and is lifted away from the glass.

"The polar bear is over 1,200 pounds and was very active, which was highly unusual on a hot summer day," the filmer wrote.
