WINTON, Australia, July 20 (UPI) -- An Australian man in an area beset by flooding captured footage of a young kangaroo that "never learnt to swim" hopping around in the water.

Frank Standfast posted a video to Facebook showing the joey hopping around in flood waters in Winton, Queensland.

"This roo born in the drought never learnt to swim," Standfast wrote in the Facebook post.

Standfast said he had initially been concerned about the joey's safety.

"At first I thought he was in trouble actually, but then I realized it was all good when I got closer," he told Yahoo7 news.

Standfast said the joey's mother was nearby, "but she didn't go in the water, she was up the road, she was a bit smarter than him!"

He said the baby kangaroo left safely with his mother after enjoying the water for several minutes.
