OCEAN CITY, Md., July 20 (UPI) -- A man accused of stealing a Jeep Wrangler in Maryland documented the theft in Snapchat videos and led investigators to his current location, police said.
The Ocean City Police Department said officers determined a 1994 Jeep Wrangler had been stolen by a male suspect about 2 a.m. Saturday from Seacrets Bar & Grill and found it parked later in the morning at a condominium building with no sign of the suspect.
Officers discovered about 8 p.m. Saturday evening that a man named Brian Engelmann, 24, of Mastic Beach, N.Y., had posted a series of videos to social network Snapchat showing him stealing the Jeep and driving erratically to the condo building where it was found.
Officers were able to record the videos and used Snapchat to discover Engelmann had returned to Seacrets, where he was located, and arrested with assistance from the bar's security staff.
Englemann was charged with vehicle theft and traffic violations including using a handheld phone while driving, negligent driving, and driving with a suspended license.
He was booked into the Worcester County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.
