GOLD COAST, Australia, July 14 (UPI) -- A garage door repairman in Australia discovered a seemingly dead snake wrapped around a garage door pulley.
Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 shared photos of the coastal carpet python, who was found caught in an electric garage door in Tweed near the Gold Coast.
"The snake's head and upper body was badly tangled up in the pulley and steel wire when the concerned owner contacted us for advice," they wrote.
The repairman managed to untangle the snake's apparently lifeless body and free it from the door's wires before making a startling discovery.
"He then bagged up the lifeless snake and when he went to bury it later in the afternoon the snake was remarkably very alive and understandably upset," Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 wrote.
According to the snake catchers the python was transferred to an animal hospital where it is expected to recover from its injuries.
"The snake went to Currumbin wildlife hospital for a check up and amazingly only had 5 broken ribs and some soft tissue damage. All signs point to a full recovery," they wrote.
