Florida woman crashes car into house while praying with her eyes closed

MARY ESTHER, Fla., July 13 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a woman who crashed into a house after blowing through a stop sign told investigators she had been praying with her eyes closed.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office said the 28-year-old woman drove through a stop sign in Mary Esther around 10:09 p.m. July 7 and drove through the yard of a home and struck the house.

The woman tried to back out, but the vehicle was stuck in the sand, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies said the woman told them she had been praying with her eyes closed when she went through the stop sign and into the yard.

The woman was cited for reckless driving with property damage.
