WINNIPEGOSIS, Manitoba, July 12 (UPI) -- A curious skunk required the help of Canadian police to free its head from a Tim Horton's coffee cup.
RCMP Manitoba shared video of Cst. Kyle Van De Sype attempting to remove the cup with the help of a fellow officer after discovering the distressed skunk.
"Out of concern for this hapless critter, he called in his back-up: Cst. Catlin Lang," they wrote. "The two members pondered their options and formulated a detailed rescue plan."
The officers can be seen placing a large yellow tarp over the skunk to protect themselves from being sprayed as they worked to free the trapped animal.
"After implementing the high-risk "tarp & trap" manoeuver, the cup was removed and the skunk was set free with the ability to eat again," RCMP Manitoba wrote.
Neither officer was sprayed during the incident as the skunk can be seen scurrying away to enjoy its newfound freedom.
