One of the commentators jokingly speculated that the cat might be a "miniature panther" as it bolted along the field.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, some fans of the Penrith Panthers considered the speedy cat to be a bad omen as the team ultimately lost the match following its appearance.

The cat's sprint did not directly impact the match in any way, but it is unknown what happened to the speedy feline afterward.
