PORTLAND, Ore., June 22 (UPI) -- A pod of orca whales, also known as killer whales, were spotted off the coast of Oregon in a rare sighting.
The Oregon Bureau of Land Management shared photos of the group of about five whales as they briefly passed by the coast.
"It was a first for some of us and definitely made our evening – week -- lives," staffer Meredith Matherly wrote in an email.
Matherly said the passing lasted about 10 minutes. She described it as "a truly wonderful experience."
