Giant monitor lizard pays visit to Thai family's front door

NONTHABURI, Thailand, June 17 (UPI) -- A shocked family in Thailand took video of an unexpected visitor at their front door: an enormous monitor lizard pressing its body against the door.

Attanai Thaiyuanwong posted a video to Facebook showing the human child-sized monitor lizard with its belly pressed against the front door as if it intended to knock.

Thaiyuanwong's family can be heard having a shocked and amused conversation while observing the lizard, which elicits screams from its audience by moving its tail.

A man toward the end of the video attempts to catch the lizard using a rope with a loop at the end, but it's unclear if he was successful or not.

Thaiyuanwong said the lizard has made repeated visits to his family's home.

"It [the lizard] is here all the time. There are even bigger ones!" Attanai told Coconuts Bangkok. "We call it Selena after [Selena Gomez], the celebrity my sister likes."
