XIAN, China, June 15 (UPI) -- A team of Chinese doctors conducted a 30-second surgery on a 1-year-old girl to remove a 1.5-inch needle she swallowed from her throat.

A video recorded Thursday at a hospital in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, shows doctors reviewing an X-ray photo of the girl's throat with the needle clearly visible.

Doctors said the girl is believed to have swallowed the needle a few hours before her parents brought her in to be examined.

The surgery lasted only 30 seconds and the girl is expected to make a full recovery, doctors said.
