Daredevil bear jumps 8 feet from balcony to tree

NELSON, British Columbia, June 14 (UPI) -- A young bear caught sniffing around a barbecue grill performed an 8-foot flying leap from the porch railing to a nearby cedar tree.

The video, posted to YouTube by user Backcountry Skiing Canada, shows the bear standing on the railing of a balcony in Nelson, British Columbia, and sniffing around a barbecue grill.

The man filming the bear attempts to scare it off by knocking repeatedly on the glass, but the furry trespasser seems unperturbed.

The man opens a sliding glass door to speak directly to the bear.

"What are you doing?" he asks.

The bear replies by jumping from the railing to a cedar tree located about 8 feet away.

"Oh my God," the man says, as the bear calmly climbs to the ground.
