CHIBA, Japan, June 7 (UPI) -- A zoo lion in Japan crashed face-first into the glass wall of his enclosure when he attempted to run toward a toddler standing on the other side of the barrier.

Video of the incident at a zoo in Chiba, Japan, shows a 2-year-old boy posing in front of the glass wall of the lion enclosure with the big cat in the far background.

The lion charges toward the toddler and smacks face-first into the glass wall.

Zookeepers said the lion is fond of young zoo visitors and often attempts to play with them through the glass wall, which was installed only about a month ago.
