Talented dog acts as bat boy for police vs. firefighters baseball game

LAS VEGAS, June 6 (UPI) -- Las Vegas police officers took on local firefighters in a friendly game of baseball, but the real star of the show turned out to be the bat boy -- a well-trained dog.

A video posted to YouTube by Fred Hassen of Sit Means Sit dog training shows highlights from the annual police vs. firefighters baseball game in Las Vegas last month, but the show was stolen by the bat-retrieving dog acting as bat boy for the match-up.

The footage shows Hassen's dog, Vegas, picking up a bat dropped by a batter and dragging it back to the dugout to be placed with the rest of the bats.

Hassen said Vegas' skills were also put to use May 27 at Las Vegas 51's AAA Professional baseball game.
