SYDNEY, June 1 (UPI) -- An Australian YouTuber demonstrated the focus of two kookaburras engaged in a long game of tug-of-war by covering the feuding birds in napkin "blankets."

A video posted to YouTube by Matt Jigs shows the two birds with their beaks locked around a small piece of meat and their gazes aimed squarely at one another.

The filmer touches the birds, which are perched on a porch railing, and they make noises, but neither moves to drop the meat or gain an advantage.

Jigs further demonstrates that the kookaburras can't be broken out of their tug-of-war trance by placing napkin "blankets" on the birds' backs.

"These cute little Australian Kookaburras (AKA kookies) were like this for over half an hour... Not giving up... So I thought I'd keep them warm," Jigs wrote.

A second video shows the uploader trying -- and failing -- to coax the birds out of their tug-of-war by offering them more meat.
