VANCOUVER, British Columbia, May 31 (UPI) -- A real estate agent in Canada gained Internet notoriety for her unique ad campaign that featured a photo of her appearing to shoot lasers from her eyes.
Reddit user earnestquestions shared a photo of the ad for Vancouver-based Realtor Patricia Houlihan that shows her shooting lasers from her eyes alongside the text "Patricia Houlihan sees what others miss."
The thread questioned whether or not the ads were real, which Houlihan later confirmed herself in an interview with the CBC.
"I am sick of boring ads with all Realtors saying the same thing so wanted something interesting, outside the box and fun...hopefully something people would get a laugh out of," she said.
The ad was created by Mike Catherall, creative director of Immersion Creative, who said they mixed the ad in with more serious designs with at least one location on Hastings Street in Burnaby, B.C.
Catherall said lawyers advised them not to run the ad, but they ultimately decided to try it out in hopes that it would attract attention on social media.
"We thought let's try something fun, and maybe it will get picked up on social media. And lo and behold, it did," he said. "It took a few months but now it's on Reddit."
