WAIMANALO, Hawaii, May 27 (UPI) -- A Hawaiian beach visitor captured footage of his friends dragging a distressed shark to shore and removing hooks and fishing line from its mouth.

Brent Thomas captured video May 16 showing visitors to Sherwood Beach on Oahu dragging a tiger shark they discovered showing signs of distress in shallow waters.

The group held the shark down on the sand and removed two large fishing hooks from its mouth that were connected to a floating plastic jug.

The beach-goers then carried the shark back out into the water and watched it until it swam back out to sea.

Thomas held up one of the hooks for the camera at the end of the video to demonstrate its impressive size.

The rescue was captured on camera from a second angle by another beach visitor and shared on YouTube.
