CAMBRIDGE, New Zealand, May 18 (UPI) -- A phallic eggplant has gained attention from bidders on a New Zealand auction site after being listed by the son of a local gardener.
The listing on New Zealand's online auction site "Trade Me" is titled "Erotic Eggplant" and notes that it had just been picked when the auction began on May 11.
"For sale, a freshly picked phallic aubergine. Totally organic, satisfaction guaranteed. All proceeds to charity," the listing states.
The eggplant has been bid on 17 times in its first week available for auction with a high bid of $100.
The seller, who chose not to be named, told Stuff that the auction began as a joke when his father picked the eggplant.
"He thought it was hilarious, and my wife and I found it pretty funny, too," the seller said. "It was a happy coincidence that the eggplant had that shape."
The family soon decided to donate the proceeds to the New Zealand Prostate Cancer Foundation after a family friend recently died after dealing with prostate cancer.
He added that the eggplant was holding up while being stored in the family's refrigerator until Saturday.
The seller also said that this was the first time he had ever sold an item on Trade Me.
"I have been on Trade Me for a while, but I have never sold anything on it -- until now," he said.
