Canadian man catches nearly 40-inch albino catfish

By Daniel Uria

WINNIPEG, Manitoba, May 17 (UPI) -- A Canadian man made a rare catch while fishing in Winnipeg when he snagged a large albino catfish.

Donovan Pearase, who owns Blackwater Cats Outfitter, shared a photo of a guest fisherman named Henry with the fish, which measured more than 35 inches long.

He described the rare, lightly colored fish as his "white whale" as he explained that he'd never seen a master angler albino channel catfish.

"After Almost 30 years of catfishing I actually got my great white whale in the boat today!" Pearase wrote.

"I may have seen 15 to 20,000 cats in my life and not one that looked anything like this."

In a separate post Pearse mentioned that Henry "didn't even know catfishing existed" in Winnipeg before reeling in the rare fish.
