WRAY, Colo., May 9 (UPI) -- A pair of Colorado high-schoolers took advantage of severe weather in the area by snapping their prom photo with a massive tornado in the background.
Ali Jolie Marintzer posted a photo to Facebook taken by her mother, Heidi, outside the family's Wray home showing the Wray High School freshman and her prom date, Charlie Bator, posing in front of the tornado before the dance.
Marintzer said they were never in danger from the tornado and determined it was 2.5 to 3 miles away before taking the photo.
The teenager posted a second photo to Facebook showing her snapping a selfie while Bator took photos of the tornado in the background.
Marintzer said the prom was delayed for about 45 minutes due to the windstorm.
