'Mystery scratches' on man's Toyota explained by magpie attack

NARRABEEN, Australia, April 20 (UPI) -- An Australian man investigating the mysterious scratches that kept appearing on the side of his car captured video of the perpetrator -- a magpie.

A video posted to YouTube by user BigiDaMan shows the magpie making repeated attacks on the door of the black Toyota 86 while it was parked at the side of a street.

The bird calls off its attack when the man shouts at it.

The man said he "discovered the source of the mystery scratches on my car" when he captured the video.

"Little [expletive] thinks he's being mad staunch," the uploader wrote on Facebook.
